Macallan Anniversary 50 YO, lisäksi Royal Brackla 60 YO, Ardbeg 1965, jne. Tuntuu siltä, että ns. globaali talousahdinko ajaa myös harvinaisempia viskejä keräilijöiden hyllyiltä myytäviksi. Myös Bonhams:n Scottish Sales (18.8.-21.8.) on kerännyt aikamoisen luettelon (mm. Mortlach 60 YO). Martin Green, joka aikoinaan veti niin Christies:n kuin myös McTear´s:n viskihuutokauppoja, on tällä kertaa jäänyt Andrew Bellin jalkoihin:) Kunhan vain se Viking-viski vielä joskus tulee vastaan näillä turuilla...

A single bottle of whisky has become the most expensive sold at auction this year and at the same time become the most expensive bottle of 50 year old Macallan ever. The bottle, sold at the McTears Rare & Collectible Whisky Sale for £11,750, was bought by a private collector from California.
The Macallan Anniversary 50 year old was just one of over sixty Macallan lots in the sale, representing the largest collection of this premiere malt to come to auction in recent years. The whisky is a bottling of three casks distilled between 1926 and 1928, and is accompanied with a letter of authenticity dated 4th July 1983.
Andrew Bell, McTears whisky specialist said, We knew that out of almost 600 different lots the Macallan Anniversary 50 year old was the stand out bottle in the sale and its quite clear that others agreed. Whisky collectors from across the world joined the sale by phone and through the internet and the price paid is a reflection of its importance to collectors and investors in whisky.
