Jokin aika sitten on tullut markkinoille Bowmorelta uusi travel retail trilogia. Bowmoren sivujen mukaan kyseessä tällaisista tuotteista:
Bowmore Black Rock, 40% abv
Looking out the window of Bowmore Distillery, the Black Rock of Islay rises majestically out of Loch Indaal. Matured predominately in ex-Spanish sherry casks, it is a delicious balance of peat smoke, treacle toffee and orange from first sip to last.
Tasting Notes
On the eye dark amber
Breathe in smoke infused with raisins, pepper, warm cocoa beans and burnt orange
Sip rich sherry and peat smoke followed by blackcurrant treacle toffee and cinnamon spice
Savour beautifully balanced peat smoke and sea salt
Bowmore Gold Reef, 43% abv
Further out to sea and deep beneath the waves lies Gold Reef. Named for the way the glow of the sun's rays reflect off the coral seabed, this same old catches the eye inside every bottle of Gold Reef. Predominately matured in 1st fill ex-bourbon casks, it rewards with notes of smooth vanilla, citrus fruits and sea salt.

Breathe in vanilla, coconut milk, delicious baked peach, oranges and lemons
Sip tangy peat, pineapple, juicy mango and kiwi fruit tempered by sea salt and olive oil
Savour the long, honeyed, zesty finish
Bowmore White Sands, 43%
Islay's coast line boasts seven miles of pristine white beaches and has been the inspiration for White Sands. Matured for seventeen long years, this is Bowmore Distillery Manager's personal favourite. Matured in the finest ex Bourbon casks, the treacle toffee and ripe exotic fruits bound together by warm peat smoke.

Breathe in light peat smoke, rich treacle toffee and ripe exotic fruits
Sip creamy toffee and malty sweetness, together with a delicious warm smokiness
Savour the incredibly smooth, warm and comforting finish

Black Rock ja Gold Reef on nyt testattu. Black Rock on mitätön, mauton ja jotenkin vetinen ja Gold Reef kyllä juotava, mutta hyvin ohut ja vaatimaton sekin.
Oikeastaan ihmetyttää, että tislaamoilla on uskallusta enenevissä määrin tunkea noin vaatimattomia viskejä markkinoille. Vaikeata kuvitella, että näihin "entry level travel retail"-juomiin kukaan ihastuu.
Ei taida nykyisistä kansanmallin Bowikoista olla kelvollista enää kuin 15 yo Darkest?
Kukahan painaisi "Say NO to travel retail NAS whiskies!"-t-paitoja. Tahtoisin yhden.
